How status decisions are made

Coupon Verification Methodology

See the source hierarchy, status labels and evidence rules CouponWarden uses before displaying merchant offers.

Draft template · owner/legal fields must be confirmed before publication.

Source priority

  • Official promotion or offer pages
  • Official help-center articles
  • Official promotion and membership terms
  • Official landing pages
  • Authorized partner sources when necessary
  • Reputable secondary sources only for discovery or corroboration

Status labels

  • Active: evidence supports a current generally available promotion.
  • Targeted: account, audience, payment, geography or another eligibility condition applies.
  • Expired: evidence supports that the promotion is no longer current.
  • Unverified: a claim exists, but current evidence is not strong enough to display it as current.

No-code offers

Some promotions are applied by an eligible landing page, account, membership or cart rather than a public code. In those cases, code: null is the correct data value.

Checkout testing

CouponWarden does not claim that an offer was tested at checkout unless a human actually performed and documented that test. Source verification and checkout testing are separate claims.

Freshness

Last checked records a real research attempt. Last successful verification records a completed verification. Article dateModified changes only for material editorial or offer-state changes.
